Enabling View Thumbnails of Image/Picture Files in Windows 7

Features thumbnails in Windows Explorer is very useful to facilitate the search for a file in the form of images. By using the features of the preview image thumbnails will appear in the explorer window, so it would be easier for users to find the desired image file.

In Windows XP, the facility or thumbnails of this feature can be set directly in the explorer window views in the toolbar menu. There usually are several choices of thumbnails, tiles, icons, list and details. Just click on the thumbnails, then the preview image will already appear immediately.

In contrast to Windows XP, in Windows 7 by default display the image on the explorer window is the default image of Windows 7. So the desired image can not be directly visible in Windows Explorer window, while the thumbnails on the menu choice views on the toolbar as well not exist. This will automatically create a slow search image files in windows explorer.

So, in order that the image file can be directly viewed in thumbnails in explorer window, follow the steps below:
  1. Open Windows Explorer window (windows key + E on the keyboard)
  2. Click on Organize and then select the folder and search options
  3. In the folder options window select the tab view then uncheck always show icons, never thumbnails
  4. click OK

Now try to open the image file in Windows Explorer and set menus views in the toolbar icons into medium or elarge icons, then the image file companions would already appear to preview, instead of the default image again.
