2. Click on Organize and then select the folder and search options
3. In the folder options window select the tab view then uncheck always show icons, never thumbnails
4. click OK

Now try to open the image file in Windows Explorer and set menus views in the toolbar icons into medium or elarge icons, then the image file companions would already appear to preview, instead of the default image again.
