Definition, Benefits, and Types Of Computer Networks

Computer network is a system consisting of computers and other devices that are designed to work together in various benefits and purposes, among others, to communicate, access information, receive or provide services. Section called Client and receive services that provide the service called Server. This system is known as a client-server system that has been used in almost all computer network applications.

Definition of computer networks

Computer network is a system consisting of a combination of computing devices that are designed to be able to share resources, communicate and access information of various places between one computer to another computer.

The benefits of computer networks

1 Shared resources/data exchange
2 Simplify communicating/transacting
3 Helps access to information
4 Able to provide quick access to information and up-to-date

Definition, Benefits, and Types Of Computer Networks

The types of computer networks based on the range

1. LAN (Local Area Network)
Local Area Network frequently encountered in the office, campus, or cafe. This network can connect more than two computers in the room close range (limited) to some KM only. These networks typically consist of computers, printers, and other devices.

2. MAN (Metropolitan Area Network)
True to its name, the type of network provides services to a wide area and also has the ability to transfer data at very high speed. Areas may be scope ranges up to 50 KM. This MAN is a network of Local Area Network series that is sized and larger.

3. WAN (Wide Area Network)
This network type of service more broadly than the MAN that can connect an area even other countries. WAN is basically a collection of some of the existing LANs across multiple locations so that it takes a device to connect and the devices that we call the router.

The types of computer networks by function

1 Client - Server
A dedicated computer network as a client and a server, these services can be provided by one or more computers.

2 Peer-to-Peer
Is a computer network that each of its host can be a server or a client simultaneously.

The types of computer networks based on topology

1 Topology Bus
2 Topology Ring
3 Topology Tree
4 Mesh Topology
5. Linear Topology
for explanation please click on the link a variety of network topologies

The types of computer networks based on transmission media

1 Wired Network (Wired Network)
This network uses a cable media in connecting each computer in the network

2 Wireless Network (Wireless Network)
This network does not use the media as a means of connecting wires, but uses electromagnetic waves in each shipment information signal.

Thus understanding of the article, the benefits and the types of computer networks, hopefully can provide benefits.
