EDO RAM (Extended Data Out RAM)

EDO RAM (Extended Data Out RAM) is a type of memory used in the system using the Pentium. Suitable for a bus that had to speed up to 66 MHz. Extended Data Output RAM (EDO RAM), this type of RAM for Pentium processor was first made, has a memory capacity of 8 MB to a maximum of 16 MB of standard PC 66/100.

EDO RAM is a variation of the first modern memory which has the ability to access a bit continuously on the same page in memory. In memory before EDO RAM, a discontinued operation prior to running other operations and this process takes time to recharge before performing other operations.

EDO RAM (Extended Data Out RAM)

In 1995, a new type of computer memory is called expanded the data out (EDO) RAM becomes available for Pentium systems. EDO, a modified form of FPM memory, sometimes referred to as Hyper Page mode. EDO invented and patented by Micron Technology, Micron although production license for many other memory manufacturers.

EDO RAM can provide system performance 50% faster than DRAM. EDO RAM like FPM DRAM, with some cache built into the chip. As FPM DRAM, EDO RAM has a maximum speed of 50MHz EDO RAM also should require the L2 cache to make it run faster, but if the user does not have it, then EDO RAM will run much slower.
